The Dauphine was produced by Renault between 1956 and 1967 (and until 1970 in Argentina).
The 1958 Paris Motor Show was the setting for the debut of the Gordini sports version (internal code R1091), destined to convince even those in the audience who criticized the car’s modest performance. It was a version whose engine, revised by the naturalized French Italian technician Amedeo Gordini, went from 26 to 33 HP, while the top speed went up from 112 to 126 km / h.Other technical innovations introduced with the Gordini were the 4-speed gearbox. gears with unsynchronized first speed and increased rear shock absorbers, with beneficial effects on road holding.
