Beautiful OM “Superba” 665 SMM (Sport Mille Miglia) with a short wheelbase in Sport version (wheelbase mm. 2,790), Mille Miglia engine, and Cadogan bodywork. This car left the OM workshops in the first half of the year 1928, subsequently sold in England through the importer Rawlence, who acquired it in a bare chassis state, as was common for almost all OMs destined for the Anglo-Saxon market. It was then customized by the English specialist Cadogan and registered for the first time in England on January 26, 1929, retaining the original license plate that is still on the car today.
It remained in the possession of the first owner until 1935, after which it was transferred to Ireland. After changing hands a few times, it was purchased in 1959 by the English Maxwell Hill family, who held onto it until 1995. From 1995 to 2000, it changed ownership in Northern Ireland before making its way to Italy when it was acquired in 2005. An English enthusiast and expert in historic cars conducted a thorough research on the territory to gather as much data as possible, leading to a meticulous restoration that began in 2008 and was completed at the end of March 2014.
After the restoration, the car was registered in Italy and certified with the ASI Targa Oro with the highest coefficient for the quality and originality of the restoration. The car, ready for any use, has already won several prestigious concours d’elegance and is prepared to participate in the most prestigious events for classic cars, including the 1000 Miglia.
