From May 12th to 17th, the allure of the great motorsport tradition comes back to life with the XXXV re-enactment of the Giro di Sicilia, the fifth event in the 2026 Automotoclub Storico Italiano Circuito Tricolore calendar.
The event, organized by the Veteran Car Club Panormus, brings over 200 crews from all over Italy and abroad back to the island’s roads, confirming the Giro di Sicilia as one of the most iconic events dedicated to classic motoring.
The 2026 edition pays tribute to Peter Collins, the race’s undisputed star seventy years ago, when he managed to complete the course at an average speed of over 108 km/h, an extraordinary achievement for the time. Alongside the tribute to the English champion, there will also be a tribute to Giulio Masetti, with a trophy dedicated to him scheduled for the final day, one hundred years after his passing.
The route passes through some of Sicily’s most iconic locations, alternating coastal landscapes, historic villages, and sites of great cultural value. Among the most anticipated moments is the passage through Villa Romana del Casale, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its extraordinary Roman mosaics, where the caravan will stop on Friday, May 15th.
There’s also a look to the future: among the participating cars, the Lancia Flaminia GT Touring, protagonist of the “ASI Net-Zero Classic” project, stands out. Powered by second-generation biofuel, it symbolizes the commitment to more sustainable historic mobility.
Over the course of the week, the crews will cross symbolic locations on the island, from the temples of Segesta and Selinunte to the roads that develop between Etna and the Nebrodi, in a journey that combines culture, tourism and a passion for motoring.
The grand finale will be on Sunday, May 17th, with “La Sicilia dei Florio”: the cars will head to the historic Floriopoli grandstands for the final timed trials before returning to Palermo for the final leg, thus closing an edition that once again celebrates the profound connection between the Giro di Sicilia and the history of international motor racing.
