Sicily is ready to welcome back one of the most iconic events in international motorsport. From May 14th to 16th, the Targa Florio Historic Rally 2026 will take place, the third round of the Italian Historic Rally Championship, bringing historic rally cars and protagonists back to the legendary roads of the Madonie.
An event that continues to represent the most authentic link between the past and present of the oldest race in the world, founded in 1906 thanks to the intuition of Vincenzo Florio and which over time has become one of the absolute symbols of international motor racing.
The historic race will take place concurrently with the 110th edition of the modern Targa Florio, sharing its location, atmosphere, and part of the sporting program. Palermo and the entire Madonie region will thus return to being the center of Italian rallying passion, in a context where tradition, automotive culture, and competition have coexisted for over a century.
The overall route of the event is 476.65 kilometers, with 111.50 kilometers of special stages spread across eight timed sections. The operational heart of the event will be hosted at the University of Palermo Campus, while Collesano will be the sporting hub of the historic race, with the start, regrouping points, and service park.
Among the expected protagonists are the leading figures in the Italian Historic Rally Championship, called upon to tackle one of the most technical and prestigious races on the calendar. After the first two rounds of the season, the CIRAS arrives in Sicily with the standings still wide open and with the Targa Florio poised to play a key role in the championship’s economics.
The special stages will pass through some of the most iconic locations in Sicilian rallying tradition, along a route that maintains the allure of the “Targa” intact. Hairpin bends, ups and downs, and roads steeped in history will once again make the race both selective and spectacular, showcasing the experience, precision, and reliability of the historic cars competing.
