Gianmario Fontanella And Annamaria Covelli Win The Eleventh Edition Of The Winter Race 2024

Cortina d’Ampezzo. The curtain falls on the Cortina classic, the Winter Race 2024, a race now in its Eleventh Edition which saw 70 crews battle for 420 km over 60 timed trials in the beautiful setting of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

On the first day of the race, the crews crossed the Alpe di Siusi, tackling Alpine passes such as Falzarego, Gardena and Giau, passing through towns such as Castelrotto, Moena and Vigo di Fassa, before returning to Cortina d’Ampezzo in the afternoon.

The second stage covered a route of a further 200 kilometres, through panoramic mountain roads such as Giau, Forcella Staulanza and Forcella Cibiana. The stages included stops in Pieve di Cadore, Sesto, Auronzo and Dobbiaco, before crossing the Tre Croci Pass, Lake Misuriona and returning to Cortina for the final catwalk and awards ceremony.

The final classification saw the victory of Gianmario Fontanella, navigated by Annamaria Covelli, aboard the 1930 Fiat 514 Sport. Second place went to the Battagliola-Piona crew aboard the Fiat Balilla, followed in third place by the Bugatti 37 of 1927 by Massimiliano Paglione and Alex De Angelis, winners of the last edition.
