The Coppa della Perugina is preparing for its 38th historic reenactment, reviving the charm of a competition founded in 1924 and kept alive today by the CAMEP – Club Auto Moto d’Epoca Perugino. The event, part of the national calendar of the ASI Circuito Tricolore, will take place from May 7th to 10th, passing through some of Umbria’s most picturesque corners.
The event represents the fourth installment of the ASI-promoted series dedicated to promoting Italy through historic motoring. A journey through hills, medieval villages, abbeys, and cities of art, where classic cars take center stage in an experience that combines culture, tradition, and automotive passion.
The program will kick off on Thursday, May 7th, with the crews’ welcome, technical checks, and initial briefing. Students from the Bernardino di Betto Art School will also be present, showcasing some paintings created specifically for the event. The day will continue with the departure for the Tenuta di Montecorona, where participants will visit the historic Badia and the ancient Camaldolese hermitage overlooking the valley.
On Friday, May 8th, the crews will depart for the Marfuga Farm and then reach Cascia, where a visit to the ancient village is planned before returning to Perugia in the evening.
Saturday, May 9th, will be the main day of the event. The route will pass through Paciano, a town historically linked to the Buitoni family and home to the tomb of Giovanni Buitoni, creator of the Coppa della Perugina. The convoy will then reach Tenute del Cerro in Tuscany, where they will visit the wineries. In the afternoon, the third skill test will take place at the Quasar Village in Corciano, before returning to Perugia’s historic center for the traditional parade along Corso Vannucci. The cars will be accompanied by over seventy participants in period costumes designed and worn by students from the Liceo di Betto.
The event will conclude on Sunday, May 10th, with the Historical Reenactment of the Coppa della Perugina, reserved exclusively for pre-war cars. The final finish is scheduled at the Chocolate Museum at the Nestlé-Perugina factory, where students from the Bernardino di Betto High School will welcome the public with entertainment and performances inspired by historic Perugina advertisements from the 1960s.
