The president of the Automotoclub Storico Italiano (ASI), Alberto Scuro, has been elected president of the Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens (FIVA) during the General Assembly held on 22 November in Salvador de Bahia, Brazil.
Leading ASI for seven years, Scuro received 166 votes out of 244, equal to 68.03%, surpassing the Dutch candidate Jos Theuns. The result marks a historic milestone: never before has an Italian held the highest position within the international federation of historic vehicles.
In his address, Scuro highlighted how the world of historic motoring is undergoing a phase of significant transformation, with increasing attention to regulations, sustainability, and the cultural value of historic vehicles. Among the key objectives of his mandate, he indicated achieving UNESCO recognition of the historic vehicle as a heritage asset and creating a major international digital portal to collect data, documents, and information on historic motoring worldwide.
Scuro’s election sends a strong signal to the sector: Italy is assuming an increasingly central role in the promotion and protection of the global motoring heritage.
