The 2025 Franco Mazzotti Cup took place on October 4th and 5th, a now classic event in the historic regularity calendar, organized by the Mille Miglia Club in collaboration with the Automobile Club Brescia and named after one of the founding fathers of the famous “Freccia Rossa”.
The event saw the participation of approximately 120 Italian and international crews, confirming its ability to combine sport, culture, and a passion for vintage motoring. Among the most significant innovations of this edition was the promotion dedicated to young people under 30, who were able to register at a 50% discount. This initiative aims to encourage generational change and involve new talent in this fascinating world.
The race started in Sirmione, on the shores of Lake Garda, and then crossed picturesque and technically challenging landscapes. The first leg touched Lake Idro, where lunch was served, and continued on to Boario Terme for an overnight stay. The following day, the crews tackled the Crocedomini Pass, with its hairpin bends at over 1,900 meters above sea level, before descending toward Lake Iseo and Franciacorta, arriving at the Ghedi Air Base, where participants were greeted in a spectacular setting between two Tornados of the 6th Wing “Diavoli Rossi.”
The course, highly appreciated by competitors and spectators, alternated precision and consistency tests on mountain roads, valleys, and historic villages, for a total of 73 timed trials and 5 average speed trials. A route that highlighted both the beauty of the landscape and the skill of the participants.
The youngsters Federico Riboldi and Carlotta Lucchini, aged 26 and 21 respectively, triumphed at the wheel of a 1939 Fiat 508. Their success was doubly significant: in addition to the overall victory, they also won the special classification reserved for those under 30. This result confirms that the passion for vintage regularity can also involve the new generations, ready to carry on the legacy of the great protagonists of the past.
Behind them, in second place, were Andrea Vesco and Fabio Salvinelli in a Fiat 508 S Coppa Oro, a highly experienced crew that has won several major events. Rounding out the podium were Lorenzo and Mario Turelli, also in a Fiat 508 S Coppa Oro, a testament to the longevity and competitiveness of this historic model.
The Ladies’ Cup was won by Federica Bignetti and Luisa Ciatti, at the wheel of an MG TB, who delivered a consistent and precise performance that allowed them to take the lead in the women’s rankings.
Also noteworthy is the strong international presence, with 22 foreign crews from Switzerland, the Netherlands, Great Britain, the United States, and Poland, which further enhanced the international scope of the event, helping to make it a point of reference in the European panorama of historic regularity.
The 2025 Coppa Franco Mazzotti has once again confirmed its unique appeal: a race that is more than just a competition, but also a journey through automotive history, local traditions, and Italy’s most evocative landscapes. This event looks to the future with the introduction of new categories, including one reserved for Gran Turismo models produced from 2001 onwards, designed to broaden participation and engage collectors of more recent cars.
The finale inside the Ghedi military base, with the symbolic handover between the two Tornado fighters, capped off an event where technology, mechanics, and passion intertwined in perfect harmony. The Coppa Franco Mazzotti thus continues to represent not only a key milestone for regularity enthusiasts, but also a true tribute to the history and spirit of the Mille Miglia.
